The Pyramid Lake Regatta
is coming up on August 27-28.

Last year conditions were near ideal! Winds were
10-15 knots and the chop stayed down.

Pyramid Lake Regatta            Pyramid Lake, north of Reno, NV
Location: Pyramid Lake is located about 45 miles north of Reno, Nevada on the western edge of the Great Basin. The lake features sparkling clear water and reliable afternoon winds. Sailors will camp at Wino Beach campground. Directions to the lake and a map can be viewed at Pyramid Lake map.
  • Great Racing (MHRA Points)
  • Wilderness Camping

The event will be on August 27-28, at Pyramid Lake (about 45 minutes north of Reno, NV).  We'll be holding it at Wino Beach this time.  To get there, take Pyramid Way (a.k.a. NV 445) north from I-80.  The exit is marked "Pyramid Way", and it is right at John Ascuaga's Nugget, east of downtown.  Take Pyramid Way/NV 445 north until you reach a big honking lake.  At the lake there is a Y intersection - turn hard right on NV 446 heading south/east (the sign is marked NV 446 East, but it trends south).  Continue for 2.3 miles until you see the sign for Wino Beach on the left.  There's a little dirt road that will take you down to the beach.  Be careful about driving onto the beach itself - the sand is deep and loose.

There are not a lot of services at Pyramid Lake, so be sure to bring what you need.  You will need to get a camping permit ($9 per night), which you can buy at the little store on NV 445 right after you enter the Reservation.

We will have a buoy course (just a start line and a windward mark) as well as the distance course around Anaho Island.  The starts will be run from shore.

Gary and Ricci Elkins will be cooking BBQ on Saturday night.  It's included in the $25 entry fee.  If you're planning on coming, please let me know so I can figure out how much food to order.

Hope to see you all there!

This is a fabulous regatta. Not only do afternoon thermals come up but the camping area is fabulous. Kayaks, bikes, and sailing stories of all types. Put it on your list!
